FRG-8800 / PLL / Flashing LED

In article . com,
says...
Hi all I have a sick FRG-8800 rx got the dreaded Flashing LED and no
o/p fault, searching the net found that it is a PLL problem and that
there was a fix available but cannot find the fix.
Anyone still got the fix I believe it was a resistor change so the
tunning of the PLL was not so crictical.

Regards Mark

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. Both Frank Cattell and
John Crabtree post instructions for fixing the problem, which I have
since lost. I remember it involved opening the radio up and using a
trimming tool or a screwdriver...

If you do a Google Groups search on Frank Cattell or FRG-8800, you
should be able to find the cure.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!

If I still had a schematic of the 8800 I could tell you exactly what to
do to correct problem this assuming it's just the PLL trimmer coil in
the oscillator circuit (which it usually is). There is a test point
associated with this coil and if you adjust the coil slug for an exact
voltage at the test point with the receiver set to a certain frequency
it usually fixes it. The adjustment is in one of the metal cans on the
top PC board. If someone can Email me a readible copy of the schematic
I can advise you.
