I don't know how it is nowdays,but some people whom were planning an
Ocean Voyage,they would check out some Freighter Ships.Real good food
and decent living quarters and first hand looks at how those Freighter
Ships work and usually cheaper prices too.Of course there is always the
good old Stowaway method too,sort of like Hobos hopping Freight Trains.

Know a guy who, being ninteen at the time, said he walked into a freigh
yard in Okland ( AT NIGHT )

Got a ride all the way to Bonneville salt flats , where a railroad

Hobo Convention.. Ride to.. - Should be doeable if your in shape..
Travel in pairs & such.. Even Legit... get credentials, hook up with a
Newspaper & do a story on it.. or a $50 to a railroad worker Might work

In Mexico, used to be able to ride up front with the Engineer on the
Narrow gague Railway, cooking tortillas on the Boiler at night riding
through the countryside..

I think Freighter travel is the way to do that nowadays..
You can come back unscathed from that one

Sullivan's Travels (Joel McCrae,Veronica Lake) movie is real good.It was
on tv here a couple of days ago.Of course I watched the movie on tv,it
is on tv every once in a while.And,Emperor of the North (Lee
Marvin,Ernest Borgnine) movie is real good too.Them Hoboes harrashing
Ernest Borgnine,,,,,,, Heyyyyy Shack,,,,, your Caboose is sticking out!
