Now, I'm going to do a Cuhulin mindless ramble here.......
A neighbour appeared on my back doorstep one evening a year ago and started
verbally abusing my wife for the interference to her television ever since
we moved it. She was going to get someone to track it down, it had just
started again a few minutes ago and it was ALL OUR FAULT!

I was still driving home at the time, my gear was off so it wasn't me. When
I got home, I grabbed my trusty FT817 and started sniffing. Lots of
crackling, arcing noises, peaking on high band VHF, but a problem all the
way down to 80m and below. I had always considered it an arcing insulator
and so I just lived with the problem.

I tracked the fault down to the streetlight in front of my house. It was
arcing and flickering and there was a static crash every time. I wrote a
love letter to the neighbour that I had tracked the noise down for her, and
gave her the report number from the electricity company. The lamp and
housing was replaced by noon the next day. Next evening at 7:10pm, the
street lights came on and it was all quiet. Ahh bliss. All my low band
problems solved. Her TVI problems solved.

Has the bitch said a word to me since? No.

Brad.

The what? I'm sorry, but you've lost me. This neighbour is in her late 50's
, early 60's perhaps.

Well, when your post started with:

"Now, I'm going to do a Cuhulin mindless ramble here......."

I automatically assumed you'd been keeping up on his voyeuristic
exploits. The ages 37 and 30 are those of his new female neighbours, who
Cuhulin seems to be monitoring twenty four hours a day. He knows their
every move and posts them here..in a mindless and rambling way, of course..

Oh I see. Sorry. Now I'm with you. About three weeks ago I put Cuhulin into
my message rules - delete. The mindless drivel messages from him stopped
instantly and the number of posts that I have to download into my newsreader
dropped by about 50%. I have no interest in the tripe posted by the bored
old perverted hick.

A magnetic ballast lamp puts out hash. A modern compact fluorescent
operates very quietly except for one discreet band where there is some
potential for interference. Not nearly as much of a problem as light
dimmers at the neighbors.
