Default RIGGING - The LMZ-75, SWLZ and RF Systems MLB (Magnetic LongWire Balun)

Jason - aka "RF Junkie",

IMHO - You have two products that by design lend themselves to
two different types of Rigging and two different Configuration
(Shapes) of Shortwave Listening (SWL) Antennas.

INVERTED "L" ANTENNA :
SWLZ with "F" Connector to used with RG6 75 Ohm Coax Cable
and Rigged as an Inverted "L" Antenna with the SWLZ mounted
directly on (or very near) the Ground Rod.

HORIZONTAL "RANDOM WIRE" AND "SLOPER" ANTENNAS :
LMZ-75 with "F" Connector to used with RG6 75 Ohm Coax Cable
and Rigged as a Horizontal "Random Wire" Antenna with the
LMZ-75 mounted on the House or other Structure abd using the
Radio Shack's Ground via the Coax Cable Shield.

From-the-Roof Rigging of the LMZ-75 for your Application
WebPages.

TIP - Here is another Product that you may wish to consider.
A Feed Line Isolator for your 75 Ohm Products that use "F"
Connectors like the SWLZ and LMZ-75 Matching Transformers
call it the "FLI-75" ) Use a piece of Copper Pipe for
the Body and Plastic End-Caps for the "F" Connectors.
Look at this WellBrook Low Noise Antenna Diagram :

- - - Suggest you do your own Diagram of the SWLZ with a
FLI-75 for your Application WebPages.

I just wanted to clarify a few points on the SWLZ antenna
match and different longwire confirgurations:

Although the application note shown the SWLZ in an "L"
configuration, it is not limited to this.

You can attach this match directly to the end of the
longwire if you wish.

It will require grounding further down the coax instead.

The reason for having it at the end of the vertical leg
was to get the ground terminal on the SWLZ match as close
to the ground rod as possible to reduce noise.

There is also the LMZ-75 which was designed to mount right
at the end of the longwire.

So what this means is that both options will work and the
fun of experimenting must be accomplished to know what works
best for your situation. There are many other variables at
your location that limit or enhance your antenna setup and
not one type of antenna connection will work for all listeners.
