Hi Brian,
Good catch there! I got one a few years back (at a significantly higher price). It is all you say it is, however I don't consider it to be a real great MW DX machine. On the sync detect question....it does work pretty well, but it is not in the league of the 2010. This probably says more about me than the 700, but I have to dive into the manual a lot to be refreshed on "how to do stuff" - it may not be the most intuitive radio ever. There is/was a book sold by Universal Radio called The Great 700, or something like that. Has manual in it, tips, schematic, etc. Very worthwhile to get. The 700 is my best portable for SSB reception for sure. It really shines there. Has a fine tune adjustment (why the 2010 didn't include that is beyond me). A radio with the best of the 700 and the 2010...now I think that would be the ultimate! Have fun with the 700! -Russ K3Pi |
