For any diehard Gene Scott fans, you can buy his '67 Rolls Royce
Corniche Coupe on ebay.

It's apparent one of the things he didn't do with money from folks who
got on the telephones is take care of his car.

Not sure if the radio is a shortwave one, but it's obviously a more
modern replacement.

I know a married Irish woman wayyyyyy over yonder across the big
pond. She lives about seven or eight miles from the Goodwood Rolls Royce
factory.Rolls Royce used to have a factory back in the 1940's in
Massachusetts. They were building them better than the Rolls Royce
factory in England and the Rolls Royce factory in England didn't like
that.Their "official story" in England was that the market in
U.S.A.wasen't big enough. In 1956,you could buy a brand new Rolls Royce
for $12,500.

Doc is well known as being a perfectionist, but he let this Rolls go to
hell. No doubt it didn't mean as much to him as his horses or stamp
collection. It's pretty hard to crack Rolls leather seats, but he managed to
do it. I bet it was used as an errand car by the church or something...

While Connolly leather is top quality stuff, you still have to take care
of it. They sell their own brand of hide food.

LOL, one of the ugliest engine compartments I've seen in a long time.

I wonder if his Jack Russells rode in the back seat of the Rolls. Hyper
little *******s...

It doesn't smoke? The ones from the mid 70's sure did. Brand new, most
of the time. I was soooo happy to flunk all the Rollses, Benzes, and
Beemers when they came in for emissions testing, just to see the look on
the owner's faces. The Beemers and Benzes just put out too much CO, but
the Rolls motors were total crap. They failed often, tossing rods and
spinning bearings. They made jet engines too.....scary!

One guy had just bought a Rolls in Beverly hills and it had about 1200
miles on it when he took it home to Vegas and had to register it in
Nevada as a used car. It smoked like hell and he went ballistic when I
told him he needed to take it to the local Rolls place.

The Rolls place passed it, and got nailed by DMV for it. That thing had
the piston rings of a 150,000 mile Ford Pinto..

Ever since Jaguar merged with Ford, the build quality of Jaguar cars went

on build quality (it isn't Rolls Royce or Bentley or Aston Martin) but I
can't think of the brand name just now. Some of y'all limeys out

[snip]

Doc Scott's widow needs the money. Last night I heard her begging for cash
because donations are way down. She says she can't run the Doc's ministry
as he did on only half the donations. Actually, I'm surprised the ministry
is getting even half without the Doc. The widow is far less compelling.
And I'm sure the true believers can invest their evangelical dollars in far
more efficent media than Doc Scott reruns.

In an odd coincidence, last night was the last SW night for the Hour of the
Time. The unmemorable guy who took over the show from the late Bill Cooper
said, again, freeloaders and lack of donations were the problems.

So, I guess that shows there's no future in the SW Voice from the Grave
business. But that's to be expected. After all, that would be like hearing
old, stale false predictions from the late Herbert W. Armstrong when we
could be listening to brand new false predictions from Prophet Stair.

Yeah, I heard her whingeing last night too. She's lashing out and blaming
the listeners for failing to fulfill their promises. Only 50% of the
listeners and 50% of the donations from last year, but costs are still 100%,
blah-blah. She had the anger and righteous indignation of her late husband,
but little of the persuasiveness. I'm kinda surprised she still has the
ministry going, you'd think a rest might give her peace of mind, but it
sounded like she was on a one-way trip to both the poorhouse and nuthouse if
last night's tirade is any indication.

I did smog tests on ALL kinds of cars, from Pintos to Ferrari's, they
all had to have a smog test when they were sold or registered as used in
Nevada.

I didn't say they were lousy now, I said they were lousy 25 years ago.
The engine build quality was so bad that some of the engines had to be
rebuilt almost as soon as they were delivered. Others ran ok, but sucked
oil like a wannabe Diesel.

The Ferrari's, Lams, Benzes, Beeemers, and most others would flunk
because they failed the tailpipe test, even horrible Fiats. It was a
rare Rolls that made it that far! One of the first things you checked
was blowby at the oil filler. If it was puffing out of it like a steam
loco, it flunked, if it smoked out the exhaust when revved to 2000 RPM,
it flunked.

They had nice interiors though..LOL.

Let's not get carried away there, most american cars were plenty crappy,
and didn't run very well. Some of them had engine problems too, like the
infamous GM aluminum 2300 Vega engine. My friend had one that actually
was ok until it hit 50K, and then the oil burning began, and off it
went..

I have read that many years ago too,BDK,,, in auto magazines,,, about
some new Rolls Royce engines had to be rebuilt as soon as them Rolls
Royce cars got to U.S.A.The truth is,,, them Stupid brits just can not
build decent quality cars.Look,(QQ) they are World famous for leaking
oil and coolant all over the place and the wireing harenesses are no
good and the mice over over there just love to eat up the upholstery.

I'm guessing the high bidder is a Gene Scott fan.

The cost to paint it and fix the problems could easily exceed what they
paid for the car. My guess is the total cost will exceed the value of
the completed car.

About twenty years ago,I read in a magazine that oil filters cost about
fourteen dollars for those cars.I recently changed the oil and oil
filter in my 1978 Dodge van,new oil filter cost me less that four
dollars. They ought to give that car to Monster Garage and let Jesse
James make something out of it.

And it ain't cheap. I won a Connolly leather care kit as a 'door

me on the swap field and I wound up trading it for a pair of radiator
fan motors for my 308 GTS.

There used to be a big old Goodwill store on Palmyra Street in down town
Jackson. They closed that old store down about seven years ago.I used to
take another route when I left that store and I remember seeing what I
think might be an early 1960's Austin Healy convertible car sitting
inside of an open front garage at a house on one of them back Streets.I
dont think that car had been driven in many years.I am going down town
tomorrow on Wilmington Street to buy a big thirty four pound bag of
Chicken Soup For The Dog Lovers Soul dog food for my little doggy.
www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com (she eats better than I do) If I
think about it,I might see if that old car is still there. If it's for
sale,I would give them $100.00 for the old car, take it or leave it.
