Default To dxAce: Maritime Monitoring: Simplex and Duplex Questions

Hello:

Thanks for link.

Boy, am I a true newbie at this.

Confused over the terminology, I think.

I thought that duplex usage meant both sides of a conversation weere on one
frequency, and simplex that the Tx and Rx portions were ontwo separate
frequencies. But, i guess I have it wrong ?

There are probably a lot of nuances with this that I don't even know to ask.

Can you, perhaps, clarify some of this for me ?

Much thanks; appreciate it.

Bob

Hello:

Have never gotten into monitoring any Maritime HF voice communications,
but
thought it might be interesting, so let
me ask, please, a few really basic questions.

Ship to shore and shore to ship voice and phone comms: are these
(usually)
via simplex or duplex channels ?

If both, who uses what, etc. ?

Any good frequencies to try ? Usually USB ?

This may help:
