I saw it tonight too... thanks to Ed (Blacksmith) calling and reminding me!
Loved it. I have been thinking, Detroit should have an "All Station Radio Reunion".. at the FOX theatre. have booths for all the stations in the lobby, as many jocks as possible, and benifit different charities! THEN have a concert with about 12 acts or more... each station could have 2 or 3... The Rationals, The Contours, Grand Funk Railroad, Seger, Mitch Ryder, etc. Mark Oppat "Carter-K8VT" wrote in message m... Wow! Just finished watching a great program on the local Detroit PBS station called "Radio Revolution: The Rise and Fall of the Big 8". It's a look back at CKLW (Windsor, Ontario, 800kHz) in the 1960s and 70s when this 50kW powerhouse covered the eastern half of the U.S. I enjoyed it on two levels--as someone growing up in Detroit during CK's heyday and as one who was working in Detroit broadcasting at the time and knowing some of the people on this show. If you are into the history of broadcasting or grew up listening to the station you will probably enjoy watching this program. It may run on your local PBS station; if not, it is (or will soon be) available on DVD. |
