Excellent antenna, the WL-500, and it's a pity that it has been
discontinued. I have one, and it's an antenna which I would heartily
recommend, especially when you're in need of something which can be
used on the run. It's decent on batteries, too.

I don't know that you'll find any remaining stock of this product in
the states, but I know someone who ordered from AOR UK, where (at least
a few weeks back or so) remaining stock of the WL-500 was still to be
found. You will end up paying a bit more, however, as you yourself
noted.
