Maybe this instance of "thou" isn't the general "thou" but is referring
to someone in particular.

I hate these language wars, but in the interests of accuracy, "thou" is
originally the singular of the plural "ye" and/or "you." "You" has
mostly replaced "thou/thee" as a singular by now.
