Wal-Mart operates over 1,000 "secret" factories in China. One of these, a
factory in Lungcheong, requires its workers to work 13 hour days, six to seven days a week, for as little as 18-33 cents an hour — well below the already abysmal Chinese minimum wage. .... the Communist Chinese government is complicit in the human rights violations that occur on a regular basis at these factories, as they allow Wal-Mart to circumvent Chinese law. http://english.epochtimes.com/news/5-12-19/35912.html Wal-Mart’s ties with Communist China the Communist Chinese government helps to keep these factories from the public eyes, and away from proper scrutiny. http://www.theepochtimes.com/news/5-12-17/35890.html |

Even at 13 hours seven days a week that's only 91 hours a week. My last job
worked that much or more. My friend who owns a restaurant works 115 hours a week. He will close for Christmas eve and Christmas day. That will be a nice break for him so he can see his kids. Merry Christmas everyone! God Bless America! "SeeingEyeDog" wrote in message ... Wal-Mart operates over 1,000 "secret" factories in China. I'm as anti-Wal-Mart as they come, but I do remember seeing a photo
review of the Degen factory on radiointel.com, and things looked pretty good. I just checked on the website and can't seem to come accross it for a link. From what I remember of it, the working conditions looked very good. |

Hmm? Is Wal-Mart selling Kaito radios? I just did a search on their site and didn't come up with any references to either Degen or Kaito or shortwave radio. |

It's all relative. A person that makes $150 a month can live better in China
than a person in the U.S. making 10 to 15 times more money. Trust me when I tell you I have first hand experience on this issue. If you don't want to support the Chinese economy, don't ever by anything from them again... especially radios and hearts. "SeeingEyeDog" wrote in message ... Your friend made $38? Could you make it on a WalMart salary? |

For One and All,
All Things are Relative and in the Context of China : What does a Chinese peasant working in a State Collective Farm Make ? and How Many Hours Do They Work a Day ? and in a Week ? Many are living the Chinese Country-Side opt for the Good Life of Today's Chinese Factory Worker. Sort of like a re-run of our own American History; and what was being written then; about the injustices of Factory Work and the Lot of the Factory Worker. Note - European History is little different from our own in this respect. So... What Is the Alternative ? To Have China Go Back To It's Past and Once Again Become a Maoist Society ? societies (people) and nations change best through . . . progress and evolution over time - not revolution ~ RHF |

Word!!
I'm totally with you on this man. Everyone forced to work at Walmart, no wait, ANYWHERE, no matter their position/function should demand and be provided whatever salary or hourly rate of pay that they alone have pre-determined will allow them to "make it". Really, its so simple! This idea of mine could work my brothers and sisters. Lets get legs under this thing doods. Its us against "The MAN" man. Right on! Wait, I just thought it through Justin. Our next Eminem CD would likely end up being about $275.50 Never mind. On Thu, 22 Dec 2005 04:28:28 GMT, justindavid wrote: Could you make it on a WalMart salary? |

More than 30 million Americans make $9.00 or less per hour. That's just about poverty level. I'm not sure how many people there are in the work force but 30 million is a far portion of the total. |
