Got my TG-33 amplified M.W. loop antenna today!
"switcher" wrote in message ... http://users.fulladsl.be/spb13810/oc/ I put some pictures of self made loops with pvc pipe or hulahoop ! Cool! Looks simple to make and inexpensive. How do you raise the antennas, do you have them on your roof or somewhere else? Jackie |

"Frank Halaburak" wrote in message .. . Hi there Jim That sounds almost incredible. You picked an additional 45 brand new stations with this new loop?? I mean that's extremely incredible. It's like having a brand new radio! I want one then for sure. Amazed Lucky Hi Lucky, tquchina on ebay has them listed for $16.90 Thanks all for reponding. Too bad this is just for the MW band. I might still still try it. I going to wait on some more reviews. I built my own loop too. I used copper tubing for the main loop and heavy wire for in the 2nd loop. It works OK but it's so big and bulky it's a hassle to use in the room. I have to constantly turn it and use the adjust the resistor for each frequncy. It was fun to build though. I built it when I first got into SW and had visions of picking up far away planets with it :) It's good for when it's raining bad and you still want to pick up certain stations. Lucky |

An untuned air core loop like the Wellbrook works well beyond the
shortwave band. I can see someone getting twice as many AM BCB stations with a loop antenna since they have good nulls. The stations were probably there all along, but unlistenable due to multiple stations on the same frequency. Put the offending station in the null and you get a new signal. In some locations of the bay area, you can hear two TIS on the same frequency. With the wellbrook, you can null one to hear the other. Er, not that you really need to hear those things. I can listen to those TIS for about 25 miles in the daytime with the Wellbrook. I've posted this before, but this is a recording of the LAX TIS that I did from central Nevada, about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. http://www.lazygranch.com/sound/lax_530_etgravel.wav Telamon wrote: In article et, "Jim Hackett" wrote: I only had about an hour to play with it but in a word, I would say WOW! I used my DE-1103 to obtain the results. I tuned from 520-1710 counting all the stations I could understand. Here are my initial results: Without the TG-33 I received 45 stations here in San Jose. Using the TG-33 inductively coupled to the 1103 I received 96 different stations. That is more than DOUBLE! I haven't done any other kind of testing yet. I will do more tomorrow. I have a Radio Shack passive loop that I thought worked pretty well but this is MUCH better. With the appx. 15 ft. cable you can get the antenna high up in the air. The only thing it lacks is a way to attach it to the radio. I used a small stick-on Velcro fastener to accomplish this. Maybe Degen will include this later. I don't know how much this unit will cost but I would suspect that it would be comparable to their shortwave loop antenna but I'm only guessing. Small amplified loop antennas are the way to go for medium wave and at least the lower SW bands where local noise competes more with signals. For the same reason they should be better for LW. -- Telamon Ventura, California |

ABOUT - The TG33 In-Door AM/BCB Medium Wave Active Loop Antenna
Hi, folks.
as a new member I want to inform you, that I have been in correspondence with TaoQ since I received the Degen DE31 Short Wave Active Loop Antenna a couple of months ago. I was very positively astonished at its performance, and after writing a few emails to TaoQ, he sent to me the new TG33 AM/MW Band Active Loop Antenna to be tested. I performed a few tests using my TEN-TEC RX340 HF DSP RECEIVER, and I must admit, that it was the best proximate antenna, I ever had in my possession. I am a 68 year old veteran DX-listener ( since 1970 ) and a keen antenna builder myself, but never managed to construct anything near as good antenna, as these two miniature aerials are! I have built a few antenna amplifier kits and A.T.U.:s, but as they facilitate the readability a lot, I now have the possibility to receive more clear signals than ever before! It may be possible for you, if interested, to contact TaoQ by email at: . Tell my regards to him, please. Aimo Ruoho, , or shorter: , or 73, Aimo |

To Lucky: Degen has the DE31 Short Wave Active Antenna, too, for you to
try for USD 16,90! You will find it in ebay, also, if you have the interest. I have it . I tested it yesterday on my roof on the fourth floor of my row house. It is the 1! It is working about as well in my listening room... A big surprise to me, really! Aimo ( ) |
