tendency for using portables vs. so-called desktop receivers. My best
radio is a Sony ICF SW7600GR, and at this time, I only have portable
radios.

Also using: Ten-Tec RX-350

You must have a helluva shack, Peter. Can you post
or e-mail a pic sometime? I'm curious how yours looks
like compared to, say, Maghakian's.

It's not that impressive. Lots of radios. Crap stacked floor to
ceiling. I lost the dog in here.

If I ever make sense of it, I'll take a few shots.

But I'll tell you now, that Maghakian's is far more impressive.

I did that once. After a few months of open windows I can't even tell it
ever happened. I believe little Spike's now mummified remains may be
behind or under the DX-160 and the Lifelong World Band Radio.

Once I receive Radio-Mart's 'cleansing' instructions I'll get to work on
the extrication.

That one, my friend, is not for sale.

But thanks for the helping hand.

Best: Ten-Tec RX-340

Others: ICOM IC-R8500
WinRadio G303i (early adopter)
Collins R-392

Now, which I *prefer* to use depends on exactly what I'm doing. The
'8500s are within easy reach of my computer, so if I hear about an
event going on, they're a quick setup. With the exception of poor
dynamic range and poor rejection, the '303i is a fun radio with
surprisingly good performance and audio.

If it's hard to pick up or being interfered with, the TT is the way to
go.

The '392 is an amazing machine but gets exercised least.
