Default AM Antenna in Eton E1

OK, I'll admit it.
I don't know what people are talking about when they say the E1 doesn't have
an AM antenna.
Doesn't it have a whip antenna.
What more could you want?
What the heck is a "ferrite rod antenna" anyway?
And what does it do differently than the whip?
Thanks all.
Lenny
