Maybe they are OK, but believe t or not, good old electrica tape wrapped about 5 layers thick can last for 10 years or more as long as you CUT the end off, not stretch it to break it off. I was always taught to use a good tight wrap of friction tape, and cover it with a good tight, clean (no fingerprints) wrap of regular electrical tape. I've seem some of those last a good long time. Sure, you can wrap it snugly for a few layers, but if you pull it to
snap it off, it crinkles up and pulls away from the layer below it. Cut the tape and seal it down firmly for the last finish. |
