I guess I wasn't paying attention when Verstaldin started up a thread
about this back in Feb. At any rate, I stumbled across R. Zanzibar on 11735 today at 2019 UTC. Nice, clear signal with a fair bit of music until sign off at 2100. Actually, a number of the African stations were booming in to my locale today (mid-Atlantic US). Admittedly, I haven't listened for them recently, so I don't know what conditions have been like as a matter of comparison. In any case, R. N. Equatorial Guinea was booming in on 5005 and R. Burkina on 5030 around 2230 UTC. |

Dear Junius,
Try "Afrique Numero Un" from Gabon on 15475 and/or 17630 in the afternoon (Eastern Time). Their broadcasts are in French but they often play the most exotic African music. The station is a real treat. Best, Joe |

Thanks, Joe. I do occasionally tune in to Afrique Numero Un: a great
station for African pop music. Another good one is R. Mauritanie on 4845 kHz: the traditional music aired can be really nice. Junius |
