Good portable shortwave with gos speaker for world travel?

Like some other folks, I'm partial to the Sony 7600G. As to
weather/dirt this is easily addressed by taking a few extra 1-gallon
size Zip-Loc (or equivalent non-brand name) freezer bags. Insert
radio, seal bag and you now have a weather/dirt resistant radio. Of
course, this is mostly for when the radio is not in use unless you do
not need the whip antenna.

Yeah I thought abt the zip lock body idea as well

However will not having any air at all hurt these
radios in anyway?

Believe me, there is no shortage of interesting ststions to monitor via
the shortwaves and the Sony ICF-SW7600GR offers an excellent and
inexpensive means of doing so.

Very cool!!

Thanks for the reply!

Damn good advice!

Having said that that would be the model and brand you
recommend that is good... yet somewhat disposable?

The $50 E-10 is my new travel radio. It replaces a $50 Yacht Boy 300.
(If I'm not flying I'll take my beloved Sangean ATS-606A, which, while
not loud, is voiced very pleasantly).

That was a Radioshack closeout special. No longer available at that
price. You gotta pay attention and strike while the ingot is pliable.

I have a $200 Panasonic RFB-45 I got for $50 at WalMart, too. Keep
your eyes open.
