WABC 770 NYC seems to be running IBOC at night (now 4:30am EDT),
wiping out WJR 760 Detroit listening in Central Ohio, which is a pretty hefty signal to be wiping out. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |

I just checked at 4:50am EDT and couldn't hear any IBOC. I'd like WBBM 780 Chicago to switch theirs on once at night to see how that would sound here. If it's anything like it is in the daytime it'll make a mess. dxAce Michigan USA |

The FCC has not authorized nighttime IBOC - IBOC is in a state of great turmoil, and is not going to happend, despite what some idiots say: http://worldsupercaster.blogspot.com/ |

There are commitments for several thousand more. It already happened. |

And, to add from the same link: "As much as I'd like to hear Georgetown basketball games in this clarity next year, however, I probably won't; FCC regulations prohibit AM HD broadcasts after dark, lest they interfere with the reception of distant AM signals." I rest my case !!! |

FCC regulations permit HD from 6 AM or Sunrise, whichever is earlier to 6 PM or sunset, whichever is later. There is no specific prohibition for the rest of the night hours, because that has not been decided on yet. There is a current LIMITATION, not a specific prohibition. |

HD is not yet authorized for night operation, although 4:30 AM falls in the experimental period, so they could be testing. |
