FM transmitter suggestions
 

I bought a Creative Zen Nano Plus 1 Meg MP3 player last month. It was
so cool that my wife got one the next day. At this time, I have 250 of
my favotite songs and a week's worth of Rush Limbaugh, and I still have
memory left over. Plus it even has an internal FM radio that you can
listen to or record from.

It sounds really great through headphones, and I love listening to it.
But I realize that constant listening through headphones is not good
for my hearing, especially since my job depends on me being able to
hear well. So I'm looking for an FM transmitter that I can connect to
the it that would allow me to listen to it through regular radio
speakers at a much less damaging volume. There's a whole bunch of FM
transmitters that are designed for this purpose. I tried a cheap one
from Wal-Mart that really didn't impress me. I'm tempted to buy the
CCrane FM Transmitter. It gets excellent ratings, but it costs $70, and
I can't really afford that unless it's just miles beyond its
competition.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these transmitters?

For way less than $70 you can get some really nice powered speakers.

Hello.

I have owned several C. Crane FM Transmitters for a few years. I am
very happy with them. (And yes, I know they are made by Sangean!) I use
one in my car in conjunction with a notebook computer which has
DeLorme's GPS program installed. I play music stored on the computer
which is sent by the transmitter to my car radio and, when appropriate,
the audible driving directions override the music. I also have one
attached to my AOR AR7030 Plus receiver so that I can listen to it via
any FM radio in the house.

The unit really packs a wallop - its signal travels almost to the
entrance of my development 1/4 mile away.

The unit is well-worth the $70.00 (sometimes $60.00 on sale) and, if
you don't like it, you can return it. C. Crane is, in my own
experience, a fine company with which to deal. In many years of buying
from them I have never had any problems whatsoever and I have always
found them very responsive to my needs (even going so far as to make a
few "custom" items for me).

than listen to Rush.

If you like to build electronic kits, check out Ramsey Electronics. I have
built their FM-10 and then later upgraded to the FM-100. A friend of mine
built the FM25, and it too sounds great.

I get excellent coverage for around a 200 to 300 foot radius of the
transmitter, which is unmodified and FCC-legal.

I have no experience with this particular device, but I second the
opinion that CCrane is a top-notch operation. Sangean too.

They do it because they love it. We've gotta keep track of operations
like these, they're part of what makes life liveable.

Absolutely. Inarguable. But, in this case, the preacher is the addled
one. And his argument is that *he's* the voice of clear-headedness.

So, go ahead with the next piece of logic: Which came first: the
liberals, the addled-ness or the need to become addled?

I'd say that liberal-mindedness promotes the possibility that
occasional addled-ness isn't a big problem. But living in a world
"run" by the Rove/Rush/Right machine perhaps forces a need for it.

But I could be wrong. I'm open to other interpretations.
