KPPC FM 106.7 Pasadena, Califonia is looking at its 40th Anniversary
(from April 1, 1970) when PD Les Carter took his airstaff on an 18 month journey that ended when the entire KPPC air staff was fired by the GM Doug Cox (October 24, 1971) and then in November the ratings came out showing KPPC FM as the number one Rock radio station in Los Angeles for 18 to 34 age Adults. The April 1972 ratings did not even show KPPC listed at all under the direction of Doug Cox. FM 106.7 became KROQ FM 106.7 circa 1973. Exactly 10 years after KFWB went Top 40, Program Director Tom Donahue debuted his KPPC FM hipster air staff on January 2, 1968 in the basement of the Pasadena Presbyterian Church: 6AM-11AM LES CARTER (KBCA-FM) 11AM-4PM ED MITCHELL (KFRC) 4PM-9PM B. MITCHEL REED (KFWB, WMCA) 9PM-MID TOM DONAHUE (KMPX-FM, KYA) MID-6AM DON HALL (KPPC-FM) The original 1968 KPPC air staff included TED ALVY (Cosmos Topper) and STEVEN SEGAL (The Obscene Steven Clean). -end- |
