Has the Midland 79-892 noise blanker ever worked?

I have owned two Midland 79-892 mobiles over the years, and the
noise blanker has never worked on anything. Has anyone ever owned a
Midland 79-892 40 channel sideband mobile that had a noise blanker
that worked? Just curious. As far as I can tell you flip the noise
blanker on and nothing happens.
