Howdy folks,
The [FREE] WTS (Where's That Station?) MW DX Utility for Windows® has been released and is now available for download. Visit: http://www.dobe.com/wts/ The four databases used by WTS: - North American Medium Wave (AM/BCB) Stations - U.S. Zipcodes - Station Keywords and Slogans - U.S. and Canadian Telephone Area Codes are also available as individual downloads. Come on over and take a peek. Best Regards, Eric Force http://www.dobe.com/wts/ |

C:\ongrats! Looks very nice.
How about a Unix/Linux version? -- Gregg *It's probably useful, even if it can't be SPICE'd* |

Thanks Gregg,
Sorry, but a Unix/Linux (or Mac) version is highly unlikely - at least in the forseeable future - I don't have the expertise nor software tools to program for those environments. Best Regards, Eric Gregg wrote: C:\ongrats! Looks very nice. How about a Unix/Linux version? |

Brenda,
There's more than a "few" stations missing from the MW database if you use the total number as currently listed in the FCC database. I chose to list (and maintain) about 6900 unique North American stations for the initial release of WTS. Let me know which stations you are referring to and I'll get them in the database. Many thanks! Eric Brenda Ann wrote: Seems to be a few stations missing.. ones that I know are on the air, and where they are. |

How long will this software be free? I bet you'll wanna be paid once you discover how much time you spend just keeping the data current. Many thanks - really appreciate the kind words. With respect to your question "How long will it be free", this "edition" will remain free indefinitely. But there is a reason "for my madness". Please visit the following URL for details: http://www.dobe.com/wts/future.htm I would love something like this for LW beacons... i.e., just key in the CW dots and dashes and freq, and presto! As noted by N8KDV's note, there are a couple of excellent online resources that provide basic information. If I can locate a database of essential information, I may be able to program WTS such that, unlike the online resources, distance and bearing information relative to your QTH would also be displayed. Of course, it would also permit searches based only on CW ID's. (i.e. the dits and dahs) :-) Best Regards, Eric Force |
