Default Who can hear these NYC 50KW mw stations ???

Curious to see how far some of the local (NYC) 50 kilowatt mw stations can
be heard with regularity and/or if they have been heard very far away from

Michael, I can remember tuning in WINS 1010 on numerous occasions in
Virginia Beach Va. Since installing special lightning arrestors that
specifically block Bcst band, my days of dx'g those stations are over.

Hello Michael,
pI am in Sanford, ME, about 40 minutes up 95 from Portsmouth, NH. I'm
listening on a Bendix Navigator 420 with a Radio Shack loop antenna. Definitely
not a DX rig. Analog dial, so can't be positive about the frequencies.

While vacationing in the Cayman Islands several years ago, about the
only US station I could receive down there was 880 WCBS in the
evenings.

While in Bermuda a few years back, all of the listed NYC stations came
through quite well at night.

If I remember correctly, some NYC stations were coming through in the
evenings down at Disney World in Florida.

Chicago area here.

660 WFAN

710 WOR

Heard it once or twice, but it's right next to powerhouse WGN 720 here.

770 WBC

Right next to WBBM. Heard quite nicely recently when WBBM went off for
maintenance.

880 WCBS

Close to local WLS 890, but WLS has such a crappy antenna ground that
WCBS can be heard from time to time.

1010 WINS

Too close to 1000 WSCR or whatever it is now.

1050 WEVD

Not audible here.

1130 WBBR

Nope.

1560 WQEW

Seasonal. Used to listen to it regularly when it was a standards
station.

Hi Michael:

In all cases below, the comment "check" means that I can hear the
station listenably clear (there may be distortion/interference), and I
either got voice ID or I have it logged as the only station I have
received on that frequency on an average night. I am in the SW corner
of Michigan, Icom R-75, 110' longwire.

660 WFAN Mets game Stronger signal than the Portland stations

Check

710 WOR Call in show Moderate strength

Check

770 WBC Talk show (Laura Ingram?) Fair signal, fading

Check

880 WCBS Yankee game Poorsignal, fading

Check (easy one)

1010 WINS Another talk show. Poor signal. Maybe local interference

Talk show, very weak signal, yes.

1050 WEVD Nada

Weak, conflicted, but playing the old Bruce Chanel song "Hey Baby".
Have logged WEVD here before.

1130 WBBR Nada

Fair, listenable but "fadey" signal. Seemingly a news station like
WBBM in Chicago. Commercial for a business "located in the Empire State
Building." Strongly implies New York! I have logged WBBR here several
times.

1560 WQEW Someone's doing some preaching, but it may be a Maine
station. Moderate signal strength.

Gettting three signals at once here.

Tony
