CBs are for simple minded people. If CBs
impresses you then you are all ****ed up. Most CBers rode the short bus. "THAT'S A BIG 10-4" wrote in message oups.com... That's a BIG 10-4 good buddy! |

I should not react to this, but anyways ;-) CB is cool, I had some great contacts using CB locally, and some good DX. You do not need a license (here), just an approved set. The frequency 27MHz is cool too, at night locally, in the afternoon here sometimes the world. You are allowed to use AM FM SSB and FM packet..... Nobody uses CW, so no need to learn that :-) The antennas are just about at the length where a 5/8 wave vertical is doable... Perfect band, resonable size capacitors, inductors make these any time with 20 turns or so... Not difficult for power transistors.... so from an electronic point of view easy to do, easy to get equipment too. Whats your problem with CB? You PAYED for that license? LOL |

Err i think you will find on the whole CB radio enthusiasts use the radio for fun, entertainment and the odd help here and there. Just because they dont sit an Amateur exam and then waffle on for hours into the night about tomatoes and health issues and which diode is the best and which bit of wire makes the best antenna bla.. bla.. makes them more human as they havnt become completely geek'ified like some of our more established "no life other than radio" users. Not all amateurs are like this but most sensible amateurs will know plenty of other amateurs who are. But to your first point, CB was meant for the average Jo to communicate to his fellow homies, not to take over his life and to pigeon hole himself into nerdland like so many amateurs do... so they are intended for the everyday person which makes them more popular that amateur radio's although i know quite a few CB'ers who use ham radios although they spend most of their time on CB frequencies. Your attitude also is typical of the "old school" amateur which is why im happy things are changing and your thoughts are a bit out of date.. Thereagain i realise you only typed that to create a responce as you probably havnt got anything else interesting to say.... seems strange though a superior amateur would waste his time in a CB Newsgroup...... 10-4 Awaiting flack.. CB's are a very good example and or indicator of what the public school
system is capable of producing here in the US. Dan "sean" wrote in message ... CB's RULE |
