CB Low Band 1/4 WL Antenna : = 234 / 26.965 = 104" CB High Band 1/4 WL Antenna : 234 / 27.405 = 102" Concerning the MFJ-1024 Active Antenna that covers 50 kHz to 30 MHz. I would agree that a MFJ-1024 is a good Active Antenna for use with many Radios. http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/1132.html These other Out-Side Active Antennas also could be use for a good external Antenna with most Radios. * Sony AN-1 Active Antenna http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/2206.html * Dressler ARA60S Active Antenna http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/4061.html * McKay Dymek DA-100E Active Antenna http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/0328.html * RF Systems DX-10 Professional Active Antenna http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/2868.html * RF Systems DX-One Professional MkII Active Antenna http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/1246.html - - - How ever these do require the use of AC / DC Power and a simple "CB" (10m) Whip Antenna sitting on top of a piece of 21 Foot long Top Rail does not. WHY TOP RAIL ? The use of the single piece of Top Rail creates : * A "Free Standing" Antenna Support Structure with a relative small ground foot print. * Allows the location of the Antenna Element {The Whip} : Away-from-the-House or Above-the-Roof and By-Itself. * A solid 3-5 Foot earth Grounding point for both the Antenna and Radio. * Plus it Elevates the Antenna's Whip Element about twice it's height above ground level 16 to 18 Feet. TIP - Route the Coax Cable straight down the Top Rail to ground level and secure it to the Top Rail every few feet. If you desire the best performance, the standard 102" (Quarter Wave Length 1/4WL) Whip Antenna is the answer. http://www.signalengineering.com/ult..._antennas.html -per- Signal Engineering "CB" Radio Band FAQs CB INFO = http://tinyurl.com/pjydg CB Radio Information Libary -from- FireStik http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs.htm CB Radio Technical Help -from- FireStik http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs/TechHelp.htm keeping it simple and practical {KISAP} and low cost too - iane ~ RHF . . . . .
