Not so sure about the 'dip****' reviewer you have mentioned . Did you have Larry Magne or Willem Bos in mind ? Or was it Fred Osterman ? Or,perhaps ,do you consider all of the above to be' dip****s'? The one overly fond of Latin and French. I have always had a soft spot for Electra Bearcat, since the day I got my Bearcat 250 and stopped buying crystals. |

I loved the bright red LED frequency display, rolling zeros, and chiclet buttons. Scanning was a lot easier before these damn trunking systems came along. There's two malfunctioning 250s stored in my attic. I assume there's nowhere to send them for repairs anymore. |

I expect Uniden will attempt to fix them, but what is there to listen to on conventional now? At least where I am, not a lot. And what IS there can easily fit into a bank (system) on one of the newer radios. BTW, there were TWO different BC250s, the older conventional, and the newer trunked (AND digital-capable). And there were two BC100s, the older 16 channel hand-held that was FABULOUS, and the newer 100 channel that was not nearly as good. There's a BC250 and a BC250D. All the state and local cops are still analog FM here. If they need a secure channel they use their cellphones. |
