now how to explain this,BUT I am not a business so there for I can not
grantee it,only that it will not be D.O.A..Just like if damaged in shipment how goes through the hassle with the shipper? why the seller? where is the profit if it was bought for a low price or an estate? Would you sell you car to a private individual and give it a warranty? or is it just amateur radio stuff that needs it? Or did I run into a bunch of news group trolls like in alt.2600.warez, or other news groups? OH YA i just read a few of the for sale postings and i didn't see anyone garenteeing the stuff! So go troll on someone else,if you don't like something about there ad or after a few questions then don't buy from them. "VHFRadioBuff" wrote in message ... I believe you are right. They think the "as-is" statement gives them a license to sell their junk. I don't think it will go over too well here. Yup. I am always skeptical when it comes to auctions that state that a particular piece of electronics is "untested" and sold "as-is". Any electronics I sell, I test out to the best of my ability and I always post any known problems. I think it goes without saying that unless you are a retailer, nothing you sell used will have a warentee, but you should at least state the condition that best that you can. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73! de Andy KC2SSB - WPYI880 (GMRS) Beachwood, NJ USA! OH YA i just read a few of the for sale postings and i didn't see anyone
garenteeing the stuff! No one is saying you should have a guarentee. You should go back and read all the replies. All we're questioning is anyone that says that an item is sold "as-is" (and they include the phrase "as with all electronics" - where that came from, I have no idea). All anyone wants is an accurate description of the item being sold, a list of what's wrong (if anything), and the general feeling that it's been described to the best of the seller's ability. There is too much use of the phrases "As with all electronics, this item is sold as-is" and "This item is untested". That just gives it the appearance that the item is really junk and you're just trying to cover yourself because you know it's a non-working radio. Something like "Item is as-described" (after an accurate description is posted) is more acceptable. I think everyone understands that a radio can be damaged in shipping, and if that happens, shipping insurance can cover that loss or repair. I also think that everyone understands that unless there is evidence of shipping damage, when they take a radio (or any other electronic item) out of the box, it will function "as-described", but there are no guarentees beyond that. I hope that clairifies my position, and what I believe is a lot of other ham's positions. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- 73! de Andy KC2SSB - WPYI880 (GMRS) Beachwood, NJ USA!
