Default Cushcraft R-7 Vertical HF Antenna

Hi all,

Does anybody have an idea what a used Cushcraft R-7 Vertical HF Antenna
is worth these days?? It's in good condition.

If you have an idea please contact me directly.

Thanks,

About half the cost of a dipole since it works about half as good.

Using Google, used R7's go from $125 to $175

And re "use a dipole" -- fine if your wife and HOA allows it
But best get the dipole up a half wavelength -- thats 64 feet at 40M as I
recall
Thats why some folks use verticals with its inherent low angle of radiation

CL -- I doubt, therefore I might be !

Next door neighbor of mine used to run an R7. I used his old R5.

The R7 has been out of production for at least 5 or 6 years; probably
longer. And replacement parts are hard to get, even from the factory.
I'd say, if it's in good shape, maybe $100.

Tuning on 40 meters is very sharp -- covers only a few kilohertz. It's
mainly an upper band vertical.

Still, it requires no radials, since it's electrically a 1/2 wave
design. That makes it attractive to many people.

Kinda tall, though, so it's not unobtrusive.
