Couls someone identify these abbreviations:

FRS
GMRS
ITIN

Purple, blue,green dot etc.

Silver, gold, red star

FRS: Family Radio Serevice: a licnese free low power radio service, carved out
of older Business Frequencies. Limited to low power units with fixed antennas.

GMRS: General Mobile Radio Service: a Licnesed Radio Service with more power
and options. Licenses cost about $50.00 from the FCC, the license covers all
family members. Formerly a Business Service, now only private licenses are
issued, not sure if they have grandfathered older Business users though.

The colors are often used to identify frequencies pre-set on business radios.

Mostly standard but not 100% of the time.

Some of the color frequencies are now MURS : Multi-Use Radio Service. MURS is
also a license free service, limited to 5w with some limitations on what you
can do.
