Well, I am relatively new to cw so unaware of what filters there out there and
what things may be packed into a certain rig. The pc-500 may only have
15watts, but it could be optimized for cw. The icom may have 100 watts and
cost more, but it is still entry level. I can actually be cleaner with my
rockmite 20 @ .5 watts and not get any qso's with my icom at 50 watts. But
propagation could have changed. The K1 is packed with cw stuff that I have no
clue about would like to learn as qrp is a lot of kit building and homebrew and
a wealth of knowledge is necessary.

FWIW, the Patcomm is also just a 2-band rig.
If you are an ARRL member, you might look some of these rigs up in the
Product Reviews Section of the ARRL website -- they do a pretty good
job of laying out what a rig will do in CW and other modes.
