I just bought a DX-400 at a garage sale for 5 bucks. It works great, except
that the LCD display is a little cloudy and the carrying handle is broken.
It has 300-Ohm antenna terminals in the back, an S meter, antenna trimmer,
keypad, 3-position RF gain control and many other sophisticated features.
Does anyone know anything about this radio? Is this a Sangean radio or one
made especially for Radio Shack?

It was made by Uniden. Same as their CR-2021. It was one of the best
portables of the 80's. It has a triple conversion design. It was based
(loosely) on the Sony-2001 (not the 2001-D) which was the first fully
digital shortwave portable.
Is the LCD display on your DX-400 "cloudy" because the clear plastic
window has a lot of scratches or is there a problem with the display
itself?
