Propagation conditions. Propagation conditions on the HF bands have been =
relatively poor for the season. Average daily sunspot number rose this =
week from last, jumping over 17 points to 38.1. Average daily solar flux =
was almost the same. Solar activity has been very low, and fortunately =
geomagnetic indices are also low. So, some sporadic openings to South =
Africa on 28 MHz have been reported by Bulgarian hams. DX signals come =
through mostly on 21, 18, 14 and 10 MHz at the appropriate times, =
although rather weak. Apparently, the 18 MHz band seems to be the best =
DX band at present. A slight increase in solar flux is predicted for =
October 15-16, when it may rise to around 105. Watch the 28 and 24 MHz =
bands, perhaps they will produce some DX. If the bands look empty, don't =
just listen but call CQ! It may be rewarding!
