IBOC is earnings-driven. As Mr. Eduardo is so quick to point out,
DXers don't pay the bills. So the industry as a whole is willing to
risk something like IBOC to revive earnings. It's a kludge; there
might be better options; but it's not going away soon. And that sucks
for distance listening on older equipment.

New equipment might actually open up new kinds of DX. We just don't
know yet.
