G'day Guys,

While listening to the 40m hams trying to catch VA7MLW Canadian
sailing solo run the world, the band is total washed out with
this spectrum noise. I have a recording of this BLOODY
annoying spectrum noise, which I'm sure is OVER HORIZON RADAR
or something very similar, can anyone else please confirm this
?

Sounds like a digital transmission mode like AMTOR.

Nope.

Maybe digital but guaranteed NOT to be AMTOR, PACTOR OR G-TOR.
These are "linked" modes, with a pause between transmissions to
wait for the ACK or NAK from the other station. All of the TOR
modes sounds sort of like a cricket -- nothing at all like the
signal in question sounds.

Yeah like you know anything bozo.

Well, yeah, like I would. I've made a couple of hundred of
AMTOR/PACTOR/G-TOR contacts over the years. How many have YOU made, huh?

There are AMTOR modes that are raw that sound just like what I heard.

What do you mean by "raw" AMTOR? Is that your very own 'technical' term?
You would have us believe you are a genius. If so, be specific. Do you
mean FEC mode (Mode B)? or ARQ mode (Mode A)? NONE of the literature
refers to "raw". In any case, *neither* variant of AMTOR sounds anything
at all like the recording that the OP made and posted.

Furthermore, at least for the sake of this discussion, -TOR signals
nominally use 1 kHz of bandwidth or less. IF you listened to the OP's
recording while watching him scan the band and IF you noticed the title
of his post ( Broad Spectrum Noise / Buzz 6500 kHz - 7100 kHz),
hopefully you would realize that an AMTOR signal, raw, cooked or
otherwise, would not be 600 kHz wide.

You have to be a fricking moron to tell me what I heard on the radio.

Sorry, YOU have no clue. Me (nor anyone else) was telling you what you
heard on -your- RADIO. *I* was referring to the RECORDING made by the
OP. Then, we are -all- listening to the -same- thing. Get it now?

In regards to your obnoxiousness, rudeness, vulgarity and name calling
above in response to my germane and on-topic post, I can only hope you
get along better in real life than you do in this newsgroup. In my
humble opinion, you seem to be exhibiting some characteristics of
Narcissistic Personality Disorder, megalomania or both. You seems to
perpetually want to be controlling, in charge, with an ego as big as
Rhode Island. If you are going to ridicule the intelligence
of others, you better be sure that -you- are above reproach (just having
a stupendous ego doesn't count). "Raw" AMTOR, indeed.
The only things raw here are your vulgarity and half-baked, so-called
'knowledge'.
