It's a cinch we can't trust the regular media to properly cover this
administration because they even overtly promoted it, while at the same
time
slamming the current administration over the war. The inability of the
previous administration to deal with it and the terrorist acts that were
a
product seem to have been lost in the shuffle. Here the guy who was in
the
middle of it tries to come clean:

Then there's the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac impending disaster that was
covered
up over and over until it finally came home to roost and has goofed up
the
world economy.

And now they are there to clean it all up? Give me a break. Be very
afraid
when people are promoted for bad behavior and bad judgment.
I must differ. I think their reporting documented true failings of bush
and govt.
BTW censors who have a problem with this discussion can find a different
tree. It is well established that these topics are routinely hijacked
immediately. But in reality the Subject line of this thread must be a troll
for political discussion since universities, the media, business, government
are such targets for subversion.
Bush's failings, indeed the failings of the Republicans in general have been
their dumbfounded reaction to these criminal (or ignorant) acts of
democrats. The brazen point was made to regulators in the video above. He
was actually complaining that democrats needed more oversight to check their
own bad behavior. In reality it is hard to promote freedom and then have to
take a firm hand against those who exploit it. It is a big quandary. Big
government leads to corruption and domination, not big enough and it gets
overrun. Without widespread moral patriotism, freedom is lost. We have
lost this to demoralization.
Case in point, Nancy Pelosi seem to have in mind that the big three should
do what they are told by a dominant government overseer and be immediately
profitable to her tastes while they are dis-advantaged in the marketplace by
the active redistribution of wealth of the unions. Granted, management
shouldn't expect golden parachutes, but the lavish retirements of union
employees and high wages are a major drain on a crippled enterprise. It
really sounds like a plan to pay off the employees, cover up the problem and
throw jobs under the bus. Management will take the blame for the failure
and all the employees who are suddenly out of work with big mortgages will
hate them as they lose their mansions. I know a few right now. The real
answer for all this is immediate and localized accountability at all levels.
Bring back bonuses and commissions for productivity and loss for loss. Not
the unmanaged situation that exists now where exploitation and failure goes
unchecked at all levels, and go crying to someone for money to clean up the
wreckage. People need to have expectations of them or they won't succeed.
Unrealistic expectations just lead to demoralization and failure.
I also believe, their reporting depicted the true hope the "down
trodden" wish to place in Obama ... they are just sorely tired of being
sick and tired
This is like the people out here who get fired by their leftist bosses and
are told it's Bush's fault. Maybe if he shouts his indignation at Bush loud
and hard enough, the people who smacked him down will take pity and give him
his job back. This is like the battered wife hoping she can do better next
time, because her husband says he loves her and he will change, although the
beatings are worse every time. This is called demoralization. It is a
psychological process that conditions peoples reactions so that they are
unable to process fact, only react to stimuli. The next step is
destabilization. How is it in our best interest to destroy the economy and
throw record numbers of people out on the street? If people don't wake
pretty quick, you and I both will be taking a bullet in the head, because I
am a dissident and you because they won't have a need for you when you
finally realize were we are going. This realization must come from
Republicans and Democrats because we have been conditioned to extremes.
Socialists think we need more intervention, smothering, nationalist health
care and free drugs, free housing, loss of freedom and choice so we don't
endanger ourselves and our children. Where does teaching them homosexuality
and abortion fit in? It certainly facilitates conquest. Capitalists are
taught that Greed is good and that it is OK to prey on those around us.
This is where Rush Limbaugh does harm. It fans the flames of class envy.
The real answer to all this would be a shift in our thinking as voters,
legislators, and people at all levels in our government. In the true spirit
of patriotism and moderation, a conservatism could emerge that has a
healthy skepticism, a realization that no one should be trusted too much
with our welfare, and that we should first count all our fingers before
shaking hands in business. It is my hope that somehow enough people who are
resistant to the current conditioning can transcend the bi-polar thinking of
this nation before civil war breaks out.
