Rudolph Diesel (Inventor of the Diesel engine) tried to run his Diesel
engine on Coal, Coal dust/powdered Coal,,, the engine blew up!

Back in the 1970s, Cadillac experimented with running an engine on
powdered Coal.I think it was a 1974 Cadillac car that the people at
Cadillac had rigged up to run on powdered Coal.I have an old auto
magazine floatin around here somewhere which has an article about the
Cadillac Coal car.
