Until recently, a loophole that allowed multi-nozzled showerheads
(with each individual nozzle meeting the flow-capacity limit) put this
personal choice where it belongs: in the hands of consumers.
Showerheads with three or even eight nozzles could be purchased by
homebuilders to equip luxury bathrooms as long as the per-nozzle water-
flow limit was followed. Regrettably, the DOE decided that
alternatives to the standard showerhead could no longer be allowed
and, in May, sought to close the legal gap. A redefinition of
showerheads is expected.

Dictating the amount of water that is to be used in a shower has
little bearing on energy policy and opens the door to far more
invasive measures. If the DOE can limit the energy used in showering,
it could just as easily involve itself in legislating how much energy
any appliance can use, how long it can be used each day, or what kind
of electronics can be sold.

In involving itself so closely in the American household, the DOE has
overstepped its bounds. Showerheads simply don’t fit under
electricity, fuel, or energy on a national scale. Which showerhead to
use should be a personal choice made by individual households, not by
a commission or national organization.

That's Fascism!

You do know the government has Banned your old 3 gallon flush toilets
didn't you.....

What's more is that to save that little bit of water in the flush, they
force you to use the New toilets and they never updated the Waste lines
and many older homes couldn't have pipes upgraded anyways. But that
lower amount of water with each flush(and the 1/8 drop per foot) will
create many more stoppages.... Â*Stoppages mean a plumber being called
and that costs many times the water and gas and money......

When computing the water saved, the cost is NOT just a new toilet with
1.5gal flush.

That's Fascism/Socialism..... Â*Thank you Leftists, for micromanaging my
life.

Next they will be smuggling 5-Gal Toilets
across the Border like Freon

Putting the Low-Flush Toilets Water Tank on/in
the Wall with a 4~6 Foot Drop can make for a
very effective Flushing Action.

A Gallon of Water that only Drops a Foot has very
little Energy {Mechanical Force} : Where as that
same Gallon of Water that now Drops a 4 Feet has
4 Times the Energy and 4 Times the Mechanical
Force to completely Flush the Toilet.

Installing a Urinal with a Pint-Size Flushing Action
can reduce the overall amount of Water used to
Flush Toilets by ~25%.

Dual Flush Toilets are another alternative
that uses the existing space and hook-up.
