Yes, the MW band is quite open and MW DXing is great fun, especially
from one of our great DXpedition sites on the coast.
Going to Jongensgat in mid September and taking the Kiwa MW Loop which
now seems to be working again.

Sounds like you have a great location for MW DX. How easy is it for
you to hear Australia & the Pacific, or South America? What's your
best MW catch (distance vs power) so far? Kind of reminds me of when I
was stationed at Andersen AFB on Guam. Sometimes MW DX would pour in
from east Asia (Japan, China, Russia, Phillipines, etc.). However,
there was always a lot of static from the seemingly ever-present
tropical Pacific thunderstorms.
I can sometimes hear France-1557 and Arabia-1521 here in Ohio. Is that
Arabian on 1521 really running 2 megawatts? Do you know if it's
pattern is directional?
