Hi,
Any more answers on this?
I've been Googling for a source of a cheap radio to use for 9600 Baud
Packet Radio networks.
Any idea's for 2014 ???
Baofeng UV5R's are soo cheap now. Could they be modified perhaps?

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if there are any suggestions out there for which
radios are easiest to convert to UHF 9600 baud packet radios. There
are
several people in the area that would like to get on the air and it
has
been a while since anyone purchased any commercial radios that got
converted to this mode. Of course we are looking at inexpensive and
reliable radios.
Thanks for any information that would be available out there.

Are you a ham or are you just cheap?
At a hamfest, you can buy a used dual band 50 watt transceiver for as
little as $50 if you are willing to fix something or overlook cosmetic
defects.
I don't understand the need for everyone to cheapen amateur radio to
the
point of trying to use it like a cell phone.
There is nothing special about 9600 baud @ UHF FM.....-
Wrong as usual.

You are just cheap!
Both of my Yaesu FT 8900R will do digital as will my Alinco's and my
Kenwood's - what is the problem here?
Point entirely missed as usual.
snip drooling rant
