For anything above a Tech. It will still make it easy for someone
to get into the hobby, and see if they wish to advance in class. If they wish to go up in class, they will pass the 85% test. -- SeeYaa ![]() When American Citizens with dual citizenship pledges allegiance to the flag, to which flag do they pledge allegiance too? - "Slow Code" wrote in message nk.net... SC How about a USA version of the Canadian solution: 1) No change to license classes. 2) Tech requires Element 2 (Tech written) same as now. 3) General requires a Tech license plus Elements 1 and 3 (5 wpm code, General written). If Element 3 is passed with 85% or better correct, credit is given for Element 1. 4) Extra requires a General or Advanced plus Element 4 (Extra written). No new tests. No extra paperwork other than the VEs determining whether someone passed Element 3 with 74% or 85%. No reduction in requirements, just an alternate path. Why not? 73 de Jim, N2EY |

"Why not?" Morse code is electric smoke signals. Completely obsolete. The Amateur Radio Service is about wireless communications, not codes and cyphers. Telephone displaced telegraph on the wires. Radiotelephone replaced radio telegraph on the air, once modulation was developed. Telegraph is gone except for a few diehards. Good ridance! Best regards, Richard Harrison, KB5WZI, BSEE |
