That is good news, Walt. Keep at it and keep a good attitude. The rest
of us will take care of the prayers for you!

Thanks for providing us with common sense antenna theory all of these
years. Hopefully, Reflections III will make it into print soon. I'm
looking forward to it.

That ain't no joke. And nursing homes are bad too.. My mother is in
one of those now after two strokes, and I have to watch them all the
time. They can get pretty sloppy if they think no one is watching.
So I sneak up on them fairly often, just to keep them on their
toes.
Welcome back Walt, and hope the recovery is quick.

Here in the central valley of CA, they have imported a bunch of low wage
filipinos, trained in the philippines, rest are most likely illegal
aliens, latino mostly, all lazy and dumb as wood.

I wouldn't want 'em watchin' my dog why I was on vacation!

I don't know what we are going to do when our mom has to go into
one--only thing us children are sure of--she ain't goin' in one!

Regards,
JS

We didn't have much choice. She is pretty much immobile and
can't really do anything on her own, including going to the
bathroom, etc.. Insurance will not cover full time help at home,
only 1-2 hour visits. So that was out. The one she is at now
is outside of Houston a bit, in a smaller town setting.

25 years ago when my mother's health was failing we hired
round-the-clock, in home help. The cost was little different than a
nursing home and that would not have been covered back then either.
OTOH they also had food and lodging. Bout the time they started we
discovered my dad had cancer so they ended up doing double duty. That
lasted for a couple of years but at least they were able to stay home
and the cost was almost the same.

Almost all the workers are from that area.
She is not crazy about nursing home life, but she realizes
she is really better off there, than trying to live at home.
There is no way I could take care of her by myself.
She's very hard to move, as pretty much just dead weight,
and she would end up falling and breaking a hip, or worse.
She has very little balance at all, even just sitting up in a
chair. She'll fall right over if nothing is there to stop her.
Besides that, she really needs a women to help her
go to the bathroom, shower, etc.. So there it is...

Hello to all my antenna friends. I've just now returned home after nine weeks in the hospital following major
spinal surgery. The surgery was successful, but I contracted hideous intestinal infection C Diff, or colitis,
in the hospital. Forty nine days were required to clear the infection, after which I could begin physical
therapy. I'm still recuperating very slowly, learning to regain my balance and walk again. Have you ever
wondered what it would feel like to stand up, but needing to hang onto something stationary to avoid falling
down? And have you ever wondered what it would feel like to stand up, but unable to move a foot to start
walking? I'm still learning how to walk, with the aid of both a walker and a cane. Long and tough, but I'm
making it.

Hope to join you great guys again occasionally as I continue to recover.

Thanks for the kind words, Myles, I appreciate your thoughts.

Re colitis, otherwise known as 'C Diff', it is one of the most highly contagious diseases of the intestinal
system. It occurs when antibiotics are used prior to surgery in which the antibiotic kills the good bacteria
in the system, leaving the toxic bacteria to take over, resulting in continual diarreah(sp). I was fortunate
to survive it at my agee 88+, for it is quite common for older people in poor health to not survive. I am
fortuntate to have been in good health. It took 49 days for me to get rid of the C Diff.

Walt
