It seems that many measuring sun noise rise prefer to measure the rise by
attenuator substitution.

Though it seems a simple and sound method of measurement, the effects of
mismatch need to be considered, not only on the power delivered to the
receiver chain, but also the noise figure of the device with the changing
input or output loads. The effects are not necessarily easy to quantify,
which makes the apparently simple method a bit of a trap.
