Default interference antenna help

ml wrote:
hi

I've been getting alot of interference lately mostly 1-24mhz.

was thinking about using my 817 to snoop around the block to see where
it might be comming from

was wondering if anyone has detailed construction instructions on what
type of antenna i could easily build

i presume a loop but unsure of how big /how many turns and best way
to mate it w/the coax feed as i'd need to connect it via a length of
rg58 to the rig

any tips would be greatly appreciated the noise is like s9

I'd build a tuned loop, similar to what AM broadcast dx-ers use. A loop is
resonated with a capacitor and coupled into the feedline via a pickup loop.
The larger the diameter the tuned loop, the more signal you'll capture. By
using a loosely-coupled pickup loop of comparatively few turns, you'll
preserve the Q of the tuned loop. This worked well for me on 75m... my loop
was about 24" diameter & resonated w/ a 2-section 365pF air variable
capacitor.
Rather than seeing a peak in response, you'll see deep nulls in 2
directions. Triangulating on the nulls will pinpoint the location(s) of the
noise.
