I never met him but he was one of my Elmers anyway. 73 de Jim, N2EY --- More detail, forwarded from another group: quoting Mr. Stone: Folks: This is the saddest announcement we have had to make: It was discovered this morning that LB Cebik, W4RNL had passed away. He was a friend to us all and will leave behind a great void. His beloved wife, Jean passed several years before and he missed her greatly. He was my friend and associate for 10+ years and I shall always remember him for his warmth and kindness. A tribute to this "kind and gentle giant" shall appear in my column in the next issue of antenneX. Jack L. Stone, Publisher antenneX Online Magazine http://www.antennex.com |

A wonderful, generous man. If you read the stuff other than antennas on his
web you will see that he cared for a loved one who was incapacitated for a long time. He tells you how to deal with it. A great loss to antenna enthusiasts the world over. RIP OM, and 73 Rick K2XT |

Roy Lewallen, W7EL I hope all of the articles on his website are backed-up. I havent finished learning from him yet! I have 3 snapshots, 2 likely complete from 06 and 07, and one I just tried this evening. Antennex is blocking site duplications a bit, plus the site is slightly broken, which make a snapshot no longer possible, at least easily. So, summarizing, I have a probably good snapshot from about a year ago, one probably good from about 2 years ago, and one from today that is maybe 15% complete. tom K0TAR |

Thanks Roy for passing on the sad and unexpected news.
Professor Cebik's life is a good example of the positive influence that a fan can have on a technical subject. Antennas are most distant from his professional work, and yet we all know how much he contributed to an understanding of our favorite subject. We are diminished. Mac N8TT -- J. Mac N8TT Hello, all, and it is always sad when another silent key is added. I don't make a habit of reading articles posted on antennex.com since it was they who were (still are?) backers of the CFA and other flawed (IMO) concepts. (I was surprised some years back when antennex.com published Dr. John (Jack) Belrose's mythbusting paper on the CFA using the results of a NEC model of that antenna.) No doubt antennex.com also has promulgated some viable antenna designs. Now, if non-engineers/non-physicists would just refrain from trying to explain the underlying "theory" of operation behind their revolutionary spare-time antenna designs. Please excuse the rant and I don't mean to imply that W4RNL contributed to any of this. My best to W4RNL's family. Sincerely, and 73's from N4GGO, John Wood (Code 5550) e-mail: Naval Research Laboratory 4555 Overlook Avenue, SW Washington, DC 20375-5337 |

I am deeply saddened by his passing.
Antennex will be publishing his articles for the next two years as planned. I know he has quite a website, will someone be able to pick it up and keep it available? I am sure he would want it that way. On Tue, 22 Apr 2008 14:08:42 -0700, Roy Lewallen wrote: I'm very sad to report that I've just received word that L.B. Cebik, W4RNL, has passed away.
