You are absolutely right Rickman, it is so important today to understand the complete contract between you and your insurance company, they spend most efforts today looking for ways to get out of paying out and reward their people when they do with bonus. I have had my insurance rep come to the house 2 times already for advice. I have a wood stove and that really has codes that have been changed. Yes, we are dealing with the biggest growth of a government union base and their ways and it is simply incredible. Not to mention bankrupting. Thanks Gents, enjoyed every second of it. It actually makes sense. Smoke detectors can cause a fire to be detected earlier. The earlier the detection, the less damage and fewer lives lost - which means the insurance company pays less. You need to check your policy. Some insurance companies (at least used to before smoke detectors were generally required) have a discount if you have smoke detectors installed. But if you take advantage of the discount, your insurance may be void if your smoke detector is not installed or working properly (i.e. dead battery, out of date, etc.). It's all Life Safety issues - and therefore tightly regulated, even in the United States. Our government just doesn't (thankfully) go as far as Ontario does. -- ================== Remove the "x" from my email address Jerry, AI0K ================== |
