So one chooses the dictionary that matches one's argument? Which
dictionary?

So if you consult an American dictionary you would start calling
fringes "bangs"? YUCK and BIG SPIT.

They are not "movies", but "films".

'Films' is increasingly becoming an anachronism in these days of
virtually ubiquitous CGI.

Don't get me started at the misuse of the singular and plural cases of
verbs when discussing singular entities. For example, "the
Conservative Party are...", WRONG!

Fowler disagrees.

I feel better now. Thanks Gareth for providing a thread in which I can
vent my spleen.

I remember a friend of a friend who nearly tossed out her boyfriend because
he kept calling CD "albums". Albums weren't even correct for records for
many decades. Usage comes from a time when records were 78 RPM, and had
only one or two songs per side. To get any decent amount of recording time
they were sold in albums. If you wanted to hear the entire opera you bought
an album. With the advent of 33 1/3 RPM long play discs, the need for
albums went away but the name remained.

That is true to a certain extent insofar as Brits are
second-class citizens, political slaves in fact, as Brits
cannot rise to be a head of state because the ongoing
destructive cancer of the Morman Invasion continues to
devastate their way of life.

Monarchy and religion - both are aspects of mental illness
in the world of make-believe for there is no royal gene in
our chromosomes.

There is the seedcorn of resolution if those who encounter
the word, "royal" then substitute it in their own minds
for the word, "masturbating" to perceive no change in meaning
for both are aspects of make-believe of no value to the
future of humanity.
