It is probably worth noting that, in my experience, most children use their mobiles almost exclusively for 'texting' rather than 'talking'; presumably this carries significantly less risk perceived or otherwise. I agree. Proximity is the dominant factor at work here. That's why these scare stories about mobile phone masts and cancer are such total nonsense. There may well be some significant risk associated with the conventional use of mobiles right next to the head, though.
