The original poster asked for opinions from those that owned the isotron
antenna -- we gave him that.

Now if he had asked for antenna measurements on an antenna range and
comparisons to other antennas -- that is a different question. And I
don't know where he would have found that answer.

As far as statistics -- fact is 3 out of 10 accidents are caused by drunk
drivers -- thus 7 out of 10 are caused by sober drivers - guess we ought
to get em off the road - huh

Thanks for helping to make my point.

Sheesh, you're right. I was just idly curious about the antenna. I know it
isn't the same as 3 elements at 120'. And I did find that it "gets out". But
was wondering what results others had, like how is the 80 or 160 version.
Those bands may be "pushing it" a bit. But maybe not. It certainly had me
grinning, just like when I first built a W5QJR loop years ago and worked JA
on 40 CW with 579, loop next to me, ground floor in house...

But thanks for the additional amusement along the way.

Oh gee all the guy wanted was some opinions which I gave him at
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/311

From here he gets all this ranting about CBers and 50 kW

Thank's for the very interresting link to the isotron reviews. It's

nice
to
see that citizen's band 's still living on...
Everyone decided to buy one and was pleased by the SWR... but none of
them
seemed concerned about radiation patterns and loss (negative gain?),

nor
by
the classical "how does it work" question.

No they were all happy to kick 50W power in it to make DX with the guy
in
the village nearby... DX begins at your door... But never heard about
ground
wave propagation.

Nevermind... As far as everybody's happy, it's all good!

I just acquired a used Isotron 40m antenna. Set up on a plastic pipe on the
deck, 13 feet off the ground. I've worked VE2, EA8, and KP2 on CW. Receive
signal is about 2 S units below an R-7000 in the back yard. Next step is to
get some electrical conduit and build a 20 foot mast to see how that works.
Instructions (available on the Internet) say it needs a metal support to get
the correct impedance.
