replied to, attempts to "rate or judge" the suitability for other
readers. If I were you, I would quickly add me to your plonk file and
not bother yourself with the need to protect others.

I have observed quite a few seriously dysfunctional amateur astronomers,
they usually aren't the type that casually fit in with the masses. As
Carl Jung would have explained, they honed their technical abilities at
the expense of their personality. This he refers to as differentiation.
He depicts this as a cross like structure, with thinking and feeling at
opposite ends of one axis, and sensation and intuition at opposite ends
of the other axis. He feels, as I do, that when you are differentiated
into thinking, you progressively exclude feeling.

These amateur astronomers are emasculated, quite awkward at dealing with
women, quite oblivious to the needs of others, save for others involved
in similar endeavors. Though they ostensibly appear male (some are
female, nothing to write home about), they respond towards attractive
women visiting the observatory as if they (the astronomers) are about 12
years old.

I read your post to my wife, she broke out laughing. The idea that you
feel that amateur astronomers aren't dysfunctional was too much for her
to handle. She has likewise seen the dysfunction in these people. We
used to belong to the AAAP, Amateur Astronomers Association of

You take umbrage because I mentioned amateur astronomers as
dysfunctional, but in your zeal to find fault, you made an improper
assumption, i.e. that I find the dysfunction only with them. Quite the
contrary, model railroaders, HAM radio operators, remote control model
enthusiasts, computer geeks, these all have decent populations that are
dysfunctional, as do other more technical hobbies that do not currently
come to mind.

You also missed that my point of "the kettle calling the pot black". I
mentioned this since I also believe that I fall into the dysfunctional
category. So what?

You limit your defamation to Amateur Astronomers. I have known
many
astronomers, both radio and optical astronomers, and I observed
virtually none who could possibly be classified as "quite
dysfunctional personality wise." Those few may simply have been shy.
