I like the Iron Horse antennas for mobile work because it is easy to
break them down for storage. You can leave the whip portion set to the proper length since it's held in place by a set screw in an easily removable fitting (just requires fingers or pliers). The Hamsticks work well, but to break them down you need to loosen the setscrew with a greater chance of losing it and the necessity to reset the length when you re-assemble the Antenna. 73 de Al, K D 1 D Randy wrote: What Brand would you recommend and why? Brands include: Quickstick from Quicksilver Radio Lakeview MFJ Valor/Proam Any real world experiences with any of the above antenna's. The "hamstick" would be used for a NVIS ARES emergency dipole on 75m and 40m. And yes, I know about the bandwith and effeciency. This would be a temp, portable, emergency antenna. Randy ka4nma |
